Frequently asked questions

Short, citable answers about what Fire Clock is — and what it is not.

What does Fire Clock do?
It tracks the fire-safety obligations a Responsible Person must discharge between fire risk assessments for premises in England, and produces the evidence pack an enforcing authority, insurer or assessor expects.
Who is the buyer and who holds the duty?
Fire risk assessors are the primary buyers. The obligations belong to the Responsible Person for each premises. Managing agents and Responsible Persons can be invited into the same organisation.
Does Fire Clock write fire risk assessments?
No. Assessment writing is out of scope. Fire Clock tracks what follows the assessment.
Does it cover Wales or Scotland?
No. Version 1 is England only. Wales and Scotland have different regimes and are out of scope.
What about buildings 18 metres or taller?
High-rise duties are not supported yet. Fire Clock recognises the height band and states the case is unsupported rather than silently omitting obligations.
How does Fire Clock treat statutory duties versus good practice?
Every obligation is labelled statutory or good practice. Statutory items cite the Fire Safety Order or the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Good-practice items are tracked against the cadence your assessor set. Fire Clock never says a good-practice miss puts you in breach of the law.
Can I edit or delete a recorded check?
No. Compliance records are append-only. A correction is a new record that supersedes its predecessor and states that it does so. Evidence files are hashed at upload.
Does the product use artificial intelligence or large language models?
No. There are no LLM calls anywhere in the product — not for parsing assessments, not for generating explanations, not for summarising. Explanations are templated from rule metadata.
What else is out of scope?
Asbestos, legionella, training records, and any assessment-writing feature are out of scope for version 1.
Is pricing final?
No. The three tiers on the pricing page are placeholders. Prices are to be confirmed and are not an offer.

For jurisdiction and height limits, read the scope page. Machines can also read llms.txt.
